Ciutadella Park - Zoo

This is more of the Parliment building, it's next to the zoo.
This monument is in front of the entrance to the zoo and is in homage to Walt Disney. It was sculpted by Núria Tortras in 1969.
Then we went into the zoo, where we stayed the rest of the day.
Amazingly, we have annual passes in San Diego for the zoo and Wild Animal Park, and go quite often and this was Mackenzie's first pick of where to go...
This statue is in the zoo in a little park area, it's The Lady with an Umbrella and is the work of Joan Roig i Solé (1885).
That would be a leopard, just in case you didn't figure that one out, and no we didn't use a zoom, we are about three feet away with only a split rail fence between the chain link fence and us, and no we didn't reach out and touch him Mom.

This is Snowflake (Floquet de Neu or Copito de Nieve), the only albino gorilla in captivity (he was born in Guinea and rescued in the 60's after poachers killed his parents). When we got to his enclosure he was looking in the door (must have been close to feeding time) and stood like that for a long time. I finally just took a picture just to have one, then he turned and made a face, of course I had to wait for the camera to set and he turned back to the door. I lifted the camera to wait and said "Come on, do it again" and he turned and made the same face. Mackenzie almost fell down she was laughing so hard. Click on the photo to get a better look, he's looking right at us. We left before he could throw something at us.

Thursday morning after feeding the birds we headed to the Cathedral of Barcelona. The history of the Cathedral dates back to 925, though it's obvioulsy not the same building. Construction on this building began in 1298, but the facade was unfinished until the end of last century.
We headed for Port Vell and L'Aquarium (yes, Mackenzie's pick, and yes we do have passes to Sea World also). This Carousel is at Port Vell near the Aquarium and we rode it many many times. Once we sat in the dish thing in front of Mackenzie and you can turn it to make it spin, wheeeee. Bleekkk...

This is the harbour as we walked over the bridge to L'Aquarium at Port Vell.
On to L'Aquarium
