MORE SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4
Castle Caves

We start off passing by The Alexander Palace and heading down past the Castle Theater (Beethoven played there), and over to the Castle Promenade to check out the view. Then we head down to Disz Square to Tarnok Street for lunch.

Then to Trinity Square and the Matthias Church.

We found the Castle Caves which go about three stories below the hill. It is a labrinth of caves (not all are accessible) that runs under the entire district. They are about 500-700 years old.

The Crowned Head is a symbol of the downfall of the independant Hungarian Kingdom and the Hungarian King who was killed in the battle of Mohacs in 1526.

One of the caves is the Renaissance Hall of Rocks with Matthia's Wine Fountains. It is real wine coming out of these spouts. I wonder why Gus didn't show the team these caves when we visted?

We were walking over by the Town Hall and saw a speedwalking race going on. We stopped to watch and thought we'd get a picture and let Sandy know that she would have blown these girls away.

This is the horse with the Golden Balls (literally). There was (or is) a University nearby and on Exam days the students would come out to the statue and touch the golden balls for luck. I tried to explain this to Mackenzie, but then she wanted to know why the horse had balls.

She had me lift her up so she could touch the golden balls and now she believes that she will have good luck.

We headed over to the Royal Palace and stopped at The Mattias Well and Lu saw her Lion King and just had to stop to say Hi!

We walked into the palace courtyard and they were doing a movie scene so we watched a little, then since it was getting late and stuff was closing, we decided to finish our tour Sunday!
