Mackenzie's First Try at Ice Skating
City Park, Budapest

November 19, 1999

Mackenzie was out of school today for a teacher workshop so we decided to go ice skating at the outdoor rink in City Park (it's 100 years old and is the largest outdoor rink in Europe at 15,000 sq. m), right next to Vajdahunyad Castle.

This is the first time Mackenzie has attempted ice skating and she had a great time and did really well!

I showed her the basics and we started off, and before too long, she was skating on her own.

She did fall a few times though.

She had it a little harder, the only skates left in her size were the Hockey skates, so she was wearing those.

P.S. that is Hero's Sq. behind Mackenzie

We skated around the rink awhile, then she saw the figure eight that some girls were skating and she did that for awhile.

She did the figure eight for a long time...

And only fell once!!

It started lightly snowing right when we left, and by the time we got home it was really coming down. Mackenzie changed into sweats grabbed her Game Boy and had some hot cocoa.

Good way to end!

Late in the day it really started snowing, enough so you can't tell the streets and sidewalks apart. Maybe real snow pictures tomorrow!
