We did occassionally leave the birds to see some other stuff. This is the Basilica of San Marco. The five doorways set into the facade have mosaics of specific moments in the story of Recovery of the Body of the Evangelist. The main one depicts Christ in Glory and the Last Judgement (Cameras weren't allowed, so no pictures of inside). The inside is so cool. It's all mosaic tiled with scenes from the old and new testament and there is a golden alter.

These are replicas (the originals are inside) of the four horses that were placed on San Marco in 1250.

This is from the top balcony of the Basilica out to the Grand Canal.

Then we headed to the tower of San Marco. It was very windy and very cold up there!

But you could see so much! This is out to the Grand Canal, and this one is just down at the Grand Canal.

This is San Marco Square where Mackenzie fed the birds everyday (she would stand pretty much right in the middle there)!

And the other side looking out over the buildings.

This is about all the pictures we took of sights. One day we took a Water Bus (#82) down the Grand Canal and saw lots and lots of buildings, and we walked around other parts of Venice, I just didn't take many pictures (but we shopped a lot), so I guess we'll have to go back sometime!
