Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a volcano that collapsed on itself and created a ring of hills surrounding an expansive caldera plain below (about 2.5 million years ago). The floor is about 2000 feet below the rim and is about 100 sq miles, it is the largest unbroken unflooded caldera in the world.
