That evening we also made it out to the Neuhauser Christmas market at the Rotkreuzplatz.
Sunday morning we packed up and made one last jaunt out to the Marianplatz to catch the Glockenspiel action at the New Town Hall. Twice a day (three times November to April) the three level clock springs into action. Two levels portray the Schäfflertanz (Cooper's Dance) which is held every seven years and the Ritterturnier which is a knights' tournament held in 1568 to celebrate the marriage of Duke Wilhelm V. These have been played out since 1903.
Nighttime also shows the Munich child being put to sleep (9pm) by the Night watchmen and Angel of Peace (these clearly are still daytime pics from the one we watched).
We headed for the airport and it just so happens that there is a Christmas Market out there too and we had just enough time to wander through and watch the ice skaters for a few minutes!
