Next for the green hats was pottery. Each person was given a small blob of pottery clay to shape into a bowl. Only everyone had blindfolds on so they could use their sense of touch to feel the shape. After the basic bowl was made the blindfolds were taken off and the finishing touches and designs were added. They are going to bake them and send them to the AISB students next week.
All the groups met back together in the gym for a few more activities. They all chose random instruments and we told to follow the beat of a drum (though first they were told to see what sound they could make and then to follow the beat to hear the difference). See quicktime movie
The teachers told the students to sit where they were and to just feel the parachute as they lifted it up and down on them. They wanted them to use their senses like they do with their students. Quicktime movie
The last thing the schools did together was plant a tree. Some of the students passed the shovel around and tossed dirt on the tree and then they drove stakes into the ground to make a little fence around the tree. The school set up a lunch table and after everyone had hot dogs they brought out the cheese rolls and chocolate cookies the kids had made and they were very good!
